On Thursday,November28 local Ballymena man, Jonathan Wright will be locked up with ten other inmates, including journalist Ivan Little, comedian Jake O’Kane and beauty queen Miss Northern Ireland, Meagan Green.

Jonathan Wright was arrested on the M2 motorway Ballymena bound after police were tipped off by an anonymous caller. Mr Wright who works in Ballymena at the Michelin Tyre PLC was arrested for the crime of ‘fabrication and rubbery’. Mr Wright is still denying the charges against him, and is said to be frequently changing his alibi by creating elaborate stories. The prisoners have now been sentenced to serve time behind the locked gates at Crumlin Road Gaol, which is also know as ‘The Crum’ to local convicts, on Thursday 28th November from 9am onwards.

The unique jail break event is being organised by Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice to help raise money for their services. The charity cares for over 250 local families every year and relies heavily on donations from the public to raise £2.5million a year to maintain its regional service.

Explaining how the bail raised for the prisoners will be used for Children’s Hospice services, Fundraising Manager at NI Children’s Hospice Joanna Pawson said, “We want everyone to get behind the inmates and help bail them out. This is a fun event which is made even more exciting by the range of characters that are willing to be locked up in support of Children’s Hospice. Every single pound of bail will be used to provide specialist care to local children, young people and families here in Northern Ireland.”
