The group will travel to Malawi to work with a scheme that supports an orphanage and surrounding communities through an outreach project.

Among those preparing for the trip are Pauline Talbot, Paddy McNally and Martina Hamill, who are hosting a number of fundraising events.

The fourteen NIPSA members will be helping to build a medical centre, and provide assistance in the Love Tilinanu orphanage, which has cared for more than 400 children since opening in 2009.

The group is appealing for donations of new or used clothing, bric a brac, children’s toys, household furniture and tools, which can be collected or delivered to the Clover Day Care Centre in Armagh.

A grand sale of these items will take place at the centre on Saturday 13 August, with all proceeds going to help the Tilinanu charity.

Pauline Talbot will be hosting a quiz in Baldo’s Bar Coalisland every Friday night during the month of August, alongside her colleagues Paddy McNally and Martina Hamill, and everyone is welcome to come along and show their support.

Pauline says the group is extremely grateful to Baldo’s Bar for their generosity in allowing the Malawi trip to be the beneficiary of their very popular regular quiz event.

She adds that the charity Tilinanu devotes 100% of donations raised to help the Malawi communities.

“This will be the first time that I have gone out on a trip like this, but my colleagues Paddy and Martina have been out to China on similar journeys”, Pauline told the TIMES.

“There are 14 of us now in total, all health care workers, and we will be helping to build a medical centre, as well as provide whatever resources are needed.”

If you can offer any items for sale or would like to make a donation to the trip, please email [email protected] The quiz takes place every Friday in August from 9pm at Baldo’s, Main Street, Coalisland. Donations can also be made via the following link www.gofundme.com/nipsa-malawi-trip
