Can you help with Albert's quest?

TAKE a long look at this black and white photo.

Can you see anyone you recognise, or do you recognise yourself or a relative? If so Albert Smallwoods from Limavady Road would love to hear from you.

A stalwart of the St John Ambulance himself - he is the current Northern Ireland President - Albert is the photograph's owner, and he wants to identify the division of the St John's Ambulance it is that's in the photograph.

"There are only two divisions, so it's either the Waterside Division or the Osborne Division, who are pictured, that much I can tell you," said Albert when he brought the photograph to The Sentinel on Monday in a bid to solve the conundrum.

"I also need to know who is in the photograph. Someone gave me this photograph and I have had it for many years. I want to pass it on to the museum in Belfast, but first I need to find out who is in it," he said.

"It is obviously taken at an annual inspection and I know the Commissioner in the middle, Mr John Williams, but I have not got a clue who is in the picture with him, except possibly for Violet Farren, if I have her name right. I would say a number of the people have passed on, because you are looking at a photograph taken 50-odd years ago, I want to pass this picture on to our museum in the headquartes in Belfast on the Knockbracken health Care Park, and they are not interested in anything like that unless they have the names to go with it, as it means nothing to them."

If anyone can help they can contact Albert on 028 7134 2182, or, althernatively you can contact The Sentinel editorial team on 028 7134 1175.
