Cancer group raises £16k

Dromara’s Cancer Research UK fundraising committee this year raised a fantastic £16,000 for the parent charity.

Announcing the figure this week, the committee offered an update on its most recent fundraising activities and thanked everyone for their support.

A spokesperson said: “In October we had a Pampered Chef Party at St Michael’s Hall, Finnis, which rasied £735. At this event local man Alistair Gray also presented us with £170 he raised at a vintage car rally in July.

“On Saturday 7 November we had our annual coffee morning and Sale in St John’s Hall and this raised £855.

“During November, Square One in Dromara hosted two quiz nights, organised by the Best family, in memory of the late Mrs Margaret Best, and these raised £303, giving a total of £2, 063.

“A big thank-you to everyone involved in organising these events and to all of you who supported us so generously.

“The people of Dromara and the surrounding locality continue to support us year after year and for this we are extremely appreciative.”
