Cancer support at Clooney Hall

AN exhibition aimed at providing information on cancer support services will be hosted by the staff at Clooney Hall Centre on Thursday, September 16, 10.30am to 4pm.

Entitled ‘Cancer Support Services Exhibition’ there will be a range of information on support services and organisations that are available to people in the North West who have been diagnosed with cancer or their families, carers and friends.

A number of organisations will have a stall at the exhibition or will be supplying literature about the services they have on offer and the action to be taken to avail of their services.

During this free event Clooney Hall Centre will be re-launching its support group for people living with cancer ’Support in the City – People living with cancer’.

This group formerly operated on a Wednesday afternoon, twice per month, but those who are interested in joining will be given the chance to agree a suitable time, however, a volunteer is needed for the support group with the aim of facilitating the group.

“No counselling experience is necessary but some experience of record keeping would be helpful. The facilitator will welcome the other participants and ensure that agreed basic ground rules regarding areas such as confidentiality are observed. We would also ask the facilitator to maintain contact with participants if they are unable to attend periodically due to treatment schedules or health issues,” a spokesperson for the Centre said.

“The group has met twice each month in the past, these meetings being held in the afternoon, but some flexibility can be arranged if this attendance pattern does not suit the participants.”

Anyone who would like more information can contact Clooney Hall Centre at 36 Clooney Terrace or by telephoning 028 7134 8531.
