Canine carnival at Dogs Trust open day

Dogs Trust Ballymena is opening its doors to pet owners and their pooches for a fun-filled Open Day on Saturday 6th September.

The Open Day offers owners and their dogs a chance to get involved with a range of fun activities to help raise some pounds for the homeless hounds. From the Doggy Dash and the Great Raffle to Craft and Gift Stalls and the Fun Dog Show, there is something for everyone that will hopefully get a few tails wagging.

Dogs of all shapes and sizes are welcome to take part in the ever popular canine challenges, including the ‘Best Rescue Dog’, the ‘Dog Most Like Its Owner’ and the ‘Dog with the Waggiest Tail’.

Dogs Trust Ballymena Rehoming Centre Manager, Mary Carney says: “We can promise a day packed with interesting stalls and fun-filled activities for all the family to enjoy. There will also be plenty of opportunities for owners and their dogs to win a number of fantastic prizes. All funds raised on the day will go to the care and upkeep of stray, abandoned and unwanted dogs that come into our Rehoming Centre.”

The Open Day will be held at the rehoming centre at 60 Teesham Road, Ballymena between 12pm and 4pm on Saturday 6th September. Dog show classes will begin registration at 12pm, and judging starts at approximately 1.15pm – classes cost £1 per entry.

Entrance to the Fun Dog Show is £1 per adult and 1 tin of dog meat for children, while the four-legged members of the family go for free. Owners are urged to clean up after their pooch!

Some of the rehoming centre’s residents that are available for rehoming will also be making an appearance on the day.
