Canine Club raise £1600 for Macmillan Cancer Care

A charity fund-raising night at the home of William and Amanda Dobbin, near Cloughmills, has raised an impressive £1600.

The event, held in the spacious grounds of Mr. and Mrs. Dobbin’s home on the Kilmandil Road, saw a large crowd including members of Ballymoney Old Vehicle Club and the members of Coleraine Canine Club who also took the opportunity to stage a show of their pets.

This is the second annual fund-raising night and the organisers were again blessed with excellent weather which made the barbecue, show of old vehicles and dogs a pleasant and relaxing experience.

The Coleraine Club are indebted to the chairman of Ballymoney Old Vehicle Club, Harry Frizzell, and his colleagues for their financial support as well as bringing their splendid vehicles to the event.

They also paid a big thanks to those who sponsored the food and raffle prizes.

Last year’s inaugural effort raised 700 and to more than double this year’s total has delighted the organisers who will be forwarding the money on to Macmillan Cancer Care.

The organisers are indebted to Mr. Dobbin, chairman of Coleraine Canine Club, and to his wife, Amanda, whose culinary skills were well received judging by the keen interest shown in the variety of puddings and the chocolate fountain.
