Cannabis and cocaine found

A search of a house in Craigavon uncovered cannabis and cocaine, Craigavon Magistrates Court heard last Friday.

Nineteen year old Tiarnan McKeown, Drumellan Gardens, Craigavon, was fined £120 for possession of cannabis on August 7.

He was also ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy.

For possession of cocaine on the same date he was given a conditional discharge for 12 months.

The court heard the search was carried out at an address in Drumellan Gardens and some herbal cannabis, a lump of cannabis and a small bag of cocaine were found.

McKeown said the drugs were for his own personal use.

A solicitor for the defendant said he admitted he would have smoked cannabis but the cocaine was a one off.

District Judge, Mr
Mervyn Bates, said the cocaine offence was a more serious matter.

He explained that he imposed the conditional discharge so that if McKeown came back to court for a similar offence he would reserve the right to impose a prison sentence.
