They also found a blue pill on a seat in the car and a small bag of cannabis.

Kevin Patrick McIntyre (33), whose address was given as Oakfields, Craigavon, admitted three charges when he appeared last Friday at the local magistrates’ court.

For driving while unfit on December 27 last year he was fined £200, ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy, and banned for 12 months.

He was also fined £120 for unlawful possession of a class B drug, cannabis, and £100 for unlawful possession of a class C drug, Diazepam.

The court heard that at 12.40am police saw a car travelling along the Old Portadown Road and as it turned into Riverglade Manor it mounted a kerb.

Police spoke to the defendant who was the driver and could smell alcohol on his breath.

An evidential breath test gave a reading of 55 microgrammes of alchol in 100 millilitres of breath- the legal limit is 35 microgrammes.

A blue tablet was found on the driver’s side seat and also a small bag containing a green substance.

McIntyre confirmed the items were Diazepam and cannabis.

Mr Conor Downey, representing the defendant, said it was not the highest reading but his client accepted he should not have been behind the wheel.

The defendant co-operated with the police.

District Judge, Mr Mervyn Bates, said McIntyre had a diversion ten years ago for a drugs offence involving a class C drug.
