Steven Ian Wilson (27), whose address was given as Clonavon Avenue,
Portadown, had admitted at an earlier court a
charge of unlawful possession of a class B drug, herbal cannabis.

The case had been adjourned to obtain a short sentence report.

The court heard that on March 14 this year
at 1.10am police stopped a car in Bridge Street and there was a strong smell of cannabis coming from the vehicle.

Wilson was the only person in the car and a small bag of herbal cannabis was found under the driver’s seat.

He said he had bought it for £20 and it was for his own personal
use.

Imposing the community service District
Judge, Mr Mervyn Bates, said the accumulation of drugs offences on
Wilson’s record was concerning.
