Canon Jordan retires from Parish

A LARGE crowd of friends and parishioners attended a function to show their gratitude for the service Canon Cathal Jordan has given to Seagoe Parish over more than twenty years.

Canon Jordan retired from his ministry after over fifty years’ service. His first posting had been in Aghacommon in the early fifties and it was here he returned to serve as Parish Priest.

After a Mass in St. Patrick’s Chapel the well-wishers went on to the Stables in Lurgan.

At the function Malachy McKernan made a presentation to Canon Jordan on behalf of the parishioners. Malachy commented that each parishioner had their own special memory of how Canon Jordan had helped them both in times of need or sorrow and also on more joyous occasions. He wished Canon Jordan a long, happy and peaceful retirement.

Canon Jordan thanked those present and indeed the whole community for helping him mark this important occasion in his life. Coming from County Clare, he said that this little corner of Armagh was now his home and it there was no better place to spend his retirement.
