CAP helps the needy over Christmas time

The fun kicked off with a three-course Christmas dinner and festive programme for over 100 adults and 20 children at Gardenmore Presbyterian Church in Larne on Friday November 25.

The event was attended by clients from the Larne, Carrick and Belfast North CAP centres and was staffed by over 40 volunteers, who also helped to organise the event as well as providing ongoing voluntary support to clients.

On the night, guests heard from reformed drug addict Rod Williams from Wales, who shared his story of how he transformed his life by helping people in rehab, and has been working for CAP for the past seven years.

CAP Larne would like to thank Mid and East Antrim council for the grant funding they provided for the event, and ASDA’s Community Champion Catherine McCallion and her colleague Mandy for their practical support.

They would also like to thank Gavin from Tesco in Carrick who operates the ‘Foodcloud,’ providing food for families before it goes out of date.

On Tuesday, CAP continued the good work by joining forces with volunteers from Larne Food Bank, the Trussel Trust food bank, Lloyds Bank and the Simon Community to make up Christmas hampers for 90 needy families.
