Car destroyed in Rathcoole arson attack

Police officers investigating an arson attack in the Green Walk area of Rathcoole have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

Just before 12.50am on Friday, June 20, it was reported that the back windscreen of a car had been smashed and a petrol bomb thrown inside. Extensive damage was caused to the interior of the vehicle.

Two men were seen running away from the burning car.

Shortly before 2.30am, police received another report that the car had been relit, completely destroying the vehicle.

Police say they are still trying to establish a motive for the attack and have appealed for anyone with relevant information to contact them at Newtownabbey Station on the non-emergency number, 101.
