Car driven at couple out walking in Dungannon

A couple who were walking in the vicinity of a supermarket in Dungannon, were driven at by a car during an incident which is currently under investigation by local police.

An appeal for witnesses has been made, after details of the attack, which took place in the Oaks Road area of the town on Sunday, March 27, were made public.

Explaining what took place, a PSNI spokesperson said: “It was reported that at approximately 5pm as a male and a female were walking in a carpark the driver of a grey Vauxhall car drove his vehicle at them. The male driver of the car then exited the vehicle and assaulted the male.

“The female was not injured during this incident. The injured party received bruising as a result of this assault.

“Constable Peter McGlinn would ask anyone who may have witnessed this assault or anyone who has any information about the incident to contact Police at Dungannon on the non-emergency number 101.

“If someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
