Car enthusiast Jim organises fundraising Drive for Life event

Jim has organised a Drive for Life weekend from Templepatrick to Sligo as a fun and memorable way for car fans to take their vehicles out for a trip to remember along Ireland’s scenic west coast.

The drivers will meet at the Templeton Hotel, Templepatrick on Saturday, May 5, 2012 with a light breakfast before travelling to Donegal Town where all the cars will be put on display in the Diamond for the locals to admire. Then it is on to the Clarion Hotel in Sligo for an evening barbecue hosted by Martin Reilly Motors.

The following day, they will leave Sligo and meet up with Connaught Veteran and Vintage Car Club and the Irish Mini Club who will escort the cars through some of Sligo’s most scenic routes to Mullaghmore, where the cars will be on display once again.

It is then on to the Eagles Flying Display at the Irish Raptor Research Centre before returning to the Clarion Hotel for a five-course evening banquet. On Monday, May 7, the cars will leave Sligo and travel past Glencar and through Blacklion into Fermanagh with a stop at the Marble Arch Caves, before returning home.

The cost of the two-night bed and breakfast and one evening banquet at the Clarion Hotel is €298 per couple.

“In Northern Ireland, one in three people will develop cancer during their lifetime and around 10,700 people are newly diagnosed every year. UCF is a local charity committed to tackling cancer by supporting cancer research, providing services for cancer patients and their families and by educating people in how they can reduce their risk of the disease.

“Our work is only possible due to the generosity of local people who raise almost £4m needed annually to provide our care and support services, free of charge, to cancer patients, carers and their families in Northern Ireland.”

Entry forms should be completed and returned, along with £40 entry fee to the Ulster Cancer Foundation. In order to secure a room, booking forms must be returned before 30th November 2011.
