Car left with tyres slashed

When a car was taken from a house in Portadown it was later found in Rathfriland with its tyres slashed, Craigavon Magistrates Court heard last Wednesday.

Jonathan Pollock, Deramore Drive, Portadown, admitted taking a car without the consent of the owner and that damage was caused to the vehicle.

He was fined £250 and ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy.

The court heard police went to Deramore Drive and the owner of the car said the defendant had stayed the night.

When he woke up in the morning his car was gone.

It was found in Rathfriland with its tyres slashed.

A barrister representing the defendant said he was receiving treatment for cancer at the time. He took the car and went for a drive in it.
