Car show to be held in memory of Kristopher

A fundraising car show has been organsied in memory of a young Lisburn man who passed away suddenly in June.

The friends and family of the late Kristopher Niblock, a car enthusiast, have teamed up with Tesco on Bentrim Road to put the ‘The Wheels4Kris’ event planned for Sunday August 24 when the car park will open strictly at 6.30pm.

Just days before his 21st birthday, Kris, who worked as a general assistant in the chilled department at the Tesco store, had been working on a friend’s car outside the family home at St Marks Wood, when he collapsed in the drive-way.

Despite the rapid response team being there within five minutes and the excellent efforts of the medics at Lagan Valley Hospital, he simply could not be revived and no explanation could be given for his death.

His mother Hilary says that while it has been an emotional time, the support from others has helped her immensely.

She said: “We have had tremendous support especially from Tesco, Kris’s friends and some of the people who have donated raffle prizes to get this event off the ground. I am setting up the charity in Kris’s honour to go towards worthwhile causes that he liked, so that something good can come from his death. We plan to make the car show an annual fundraising event, and all types of car are welcome,as well as motorcycles. Trophies for wining categories will be presented too.

“With a barbeque on site and some fun activities I hope that it’s a night that is really enjoyed, and I think Kris would have very much approved.”
