A maroon Skoda Octavia ploughed into the house at Hillcrest Manor, destroying the perimeter wall at around 8am on Thursday morning.

The occupants of the car then fled the scene leaving the home owners shaken and shocked.

“I heard a massive bang,” said the owner, who did not want to be identified. “It was like a bomb going off. I rushed outside and could not believe what I saw. I was worrried in case someone was injured or hurt, but they had somehow got out of the car and cleared off by the time I came out.

“I don’t understand how they could have crashed into my house from driving along the road. It must be a stolen car.”

A short distance away from this crash, another car was burnt out and abandoned on the A3 near the shopping centre. At this stage it is not know if both incidents are connected.

Police are investigating.
