Car thief hits man with screw driver

A CAR thief hit a man in the chest with a screwdriver during a hijacking in Dunmurry on Monday.

A taxi driver picked up two passengers at Upper Dunmurry Lane shortly after 9am.

They ordered him to hand over the keys and drove off.

When the taxi driver and his friend pursued them, they found the thieves changing the taxi's wheel at Beechfield Park.

The car thieves hit the taxi driver's friend and then drove off. The stolen car was later found abandoned at Upper Dunmurry Lane.

No-one was injured.
