Care Circle extolled as the Employer of Choice

TWO local nursing homes, Braefield and Slemish, both part of the Care Circle Group, have been recognised at Business in the Community's annual Regional Recognition Awards. The Care Circle won the highly sought after Employer of Choice category.

Awarded the prize at the fifth annual Gala Awards Dinner at The Waterfront Hall in Belfast, over 480 people saw the Care Circle Group pick up its gong.

With a keynote address from the President of Ireland, President Mary McAleese and the event made possible by core sponsor, ESB Independent Energy, the night was one of celebration.

The award, which was sponsored by Foyle Food Group, was given to the Care Circle Group for its commitment and outstanding care of its employees.

Paula Kennedy, Manager, Braefield, said: “We have invested heavily in staff training and development through our ‘Best in class’ process and worked hard to develop a culture where colleagues respect each other and commit to support those in training.”

Clare Burke, Manager, Slemish added: “Staff are freely able to approach management formally and informally and as managers we spend quality one-to-one time with employees on a daily basis.”

The company has engaged in a Combat Cancer drive and undertaken a breast cancer screening initiative, resulting in early detection for some. This, in addition to a healthy eating programme and diversity training, has resulted in a staff turnover rate of 4%, 20% lower than the industry average.
