This year it was hosted this by 6th Londonderry Scout Group at St Canices Church in Eglinton. Around 180 Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorer Scouts from the District, together with their parents and friends attended. Representatives of NI Guiding and NI Scout Associations were in attendance.

The offering and gifts brought by the young people were presented to Dawson Stelfox, the first person from Ireland to climb Mt Everest. They will be used by the Irish Nepalese Education Trust (INET) to help with their work in the village of Phuleli in the foothills of the Himalayas. INET was also supported by fundraising from the recent trip of a group of NI scout leaders to Everest Base camp.

Mr Stelfox thanked the group for their generous donations and talked about how Nepalese people have used education as a means of improving their lives and local community.

One example of this being that the guides used by the NI Scout leaders on their trip were from the village and had benefited from their education at Phuleli school.
