Caroline's all at sea!

HOW challenging can you make a radio presenters' job? When it comes to raising money for Cash 4 Kids Downtown Radio Station's presenters may well find out.

Six of Downtown’s presenters - including Coleraine’s own Caroline Fleck - will be removed from their more accustomed surroundings in the Downtown Studios and will come on board (mostly by their own free will) Ocean Youth Trust Ireland’s 68ft Yacht, for a strange mixture of sailing, broadcasting and most importantly fundraising!

The Yacht, Lord Rank, became a mobile, sea faring studio, embarking on a journey up the coast of Northern Ireland, taking off from Belfast last Sunday.

It will visit Portrush on Wednesday, June 9 from 7am to 5 pm before eventually finishing up in its final destination for the Downtown Presenters in Londonderry on Thursday.

At each destination the presenters will be carrying out their usual studio slots, as well as taking on various tasks in a bid to raise money for Cash 4 Kids.

So if you are able to come along and make a donation we are counting on your support as all the money raised will directly benefit disadvantaged children and young people aged 0-17 in Northern Ireland with a focus on alleviating disability, combating illness and improving quality of life.

Whilst at sea, between destinations, the presenters will be getting involved in the usual day to day tasks carried out by the young people that the sailing training charity, Ocean Youth Trust Ireland, work with through their Youth Development and Community Relations programmes.

Tasks will range from helping with the sailing of the yacht, to cleaning toilets, and making dinner, all whilst hopefully not being seasick!
