Carrick College maintains 100 percent pass rate

Carrickfergus College has continued its tradition of academic success as students picked up their A-Level results last week.

With 100 percent of students collecting two or more passes at A* to E, the vast majority who sat the exams have secured places on their chosen university course.

“This is about the 17th or 18th year we’ve managed to retain that 100 percent pass rate,” said College principal Hedley Webb.

“There were 56 in the outgoing year group and the results are fantastic, as are the AS-Levels. Health and Social care students have done particularly well.”

High fliers at A-Level included Rebecca Topping, who earned two A grades and an A*; Courtney Moffett with three As; Scott Glenn with AAC; and Elizabeth Clarke and Jordan Fitzsimmons, who both achieved an A and two B grades.

Picking up a hat-trick of impressive results was Callum Picken with three B grades, while Gareth Smith earned an A and two B grades.

With many students moving on to local universities, outgoing Year 14 pupil Bradley Kerr, who achieved two A grades and a C, is bound for the University of Groningen in the Netherlands to begin a course in International Relations and International Organisations.

Laying a solid foundation for the coming year were AS-level students Jamie Todd, Kris Dines and Melissa Galbraith, who all achieved two As and a B grade.
