Carrick girl Amy makes the cut for Little Princess Trust

Ten-year-old Amy Creighton, a P6 pupil at Victoria Primary School, had ten inches cut off her lovely locks last Thursday.

The hair will be donated to the Little Princess Trust - a charity that makes wigs for children across the UK and Ireland who have lost their hair during cancer treatment.

Amy’s fundraising venture has also helped raise over £100 for the charity.

Her mum, Lynne explained: “Amy had long blonde hair down to her waist; this was her first major cut as she’s only ever had trims.

“I suggested to her that she might as well donate her hair to the Little Princess Trust.

“She saw somebody at her sister’s school who had no hair so she was happy enough to do that.”

And the local schoolgirl couldn’t be happier with her new look, which was created by town centre salon Halo Hair and Beauty Haven.

“She loves it and says it will grow back so she can do it all again,” Lynne added.

Launched in 2006, the Little Princess Trust has now helped thousands of boys and girls.

It relies solely on the efforts of enthusiastic community fundraisers and receives no formal funding.
