Carrick tribute to actor Ellis

Tribute has been paid in Carrick to veteran actor James Ellis, whose funeral took place last Friday.

Former Councillor Sean Neeson recalled that Mr Ellis, who starred in BBC police drama Z Cars, was the voice heard by visitors on the monorail at the Knight Ride Centre.

Mr Neeson, who was mayor at the time in 1993, said: “He did the sound track for Knight Ride and stayed in Dobbins Hotel for three days. He was very interested in Northern Ireland and the very fact he did the sound track showed his commitment to Northern Ireland and Carrick as well.”
