Carrick wool shop will be back in business

A Carrick retailer has vowed to be back in business as soon as possible following a fire at a town centre premises earlier this week.

Fire fighters were called to Selections Wool Shop, North Street, at lunchtime, on Monday.

Two appliances were tasked to the incident after the alarm was raised at 1.50 pm.

The blaze was brought under control at 2.39 pm.

The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service has confirmed that the fire was “accidental”.

In a social media post, the owner of Selections Wool Shop, said that new premises has been located just a few doors away, at 13 North Street.

She added: “I want to thank Northern Ireland Fire Service for coming to our rescue. They were magnificent and have saved one of Carrickfergus’s longest standing businesses.

“We will be opening next week, God willing. We have lost everything, but our suppliers are pulling out all stops to get us stocked up again.”
