Cash boost on the way?

AN information session on a £10million investment strategy for the local community and voluntary sector will be held in Londonderry.

Hosted at St Columb’s Park House on the Limavady Road, the event will provide information to groups and representatives from the North West. The investment will be a welcome boost for organizations facing difficult decisions about their futures and will take place on May 10 at 11am. The session will be administered by the Building Change Trust and funded by the Big Lottery Fund. Bill Osbourne, newly appointed independent Chairperson of the Building Change Trust, outlined how the Trust will meet its objective of supporting positive change.

He said: “Two key awards programmes have been established to create impact and funding for each is ready to be dispersed.

“Exploring Change will offer 60 awards of up to 20,000 enabling participants to complete a project exploring options for change and sustainability.”

“A second programme, Deliver Change, will create 20 awards of up to 50,000 to allow applicants to implement plans for change.“

Mr Osbourne added that a permanent sectoral loan fund would also be established in conjunction with Charity Bank, to allow for affordable credit for groups, along with investment readiness support.

The five establishing partners of the Building Change Trust are Business in the Community, Community Evaluation Northern Ireland, the Community Foundation for Northern Ireland, the Rural Community Network and Volunteer Now.
