Cash for Kids

ASDA Cookstown have joined together with Downtown Radio and Cool FM to launch the annual Cash for Kids ‘Mission Christmas’ appeal for the 3rd year in a row.

Between now and December 20th, Asda colleagues and Downtown Radio/Cool FM presenters will be encouraging customers and listeners to get behind the campaign by dropping into their local store and donating an extra toy or money to help support disadvantaged children across NI who would otherwise go without this Christmas.

Since 2009, Asda stores across NI have raised close to £114,000 through their fundraising efforts for Cash for Kids - including a recent donation of £1,500 as a result of Asda’s partnership with local tea supplier, Punjana, who donated 5p from every pack of tea sold to the campaign.

Gillian Cuddy, General Store Manager at Asda Cookstown, commented: “The Cash for Kids ‘Mission Christmas’ appeal is incredibly important to thousands of children and young people across Northern Ireland and we’re truly delighted to lend our support again this year.

Our colleagues are passionate about giving something back to the community that we live and work in and Cash for Kids ‘Mission Christmas’ is the perfect choice, helping to support those who need it most right here in NI. We’re encouraging our customers to help make this campaign a success so we can help brighten the lives of so many by making sure they have a present to open on Christmas Day.”

Darren Fowler, Downtown Radio and Cool FM’s Charity Manager, said: “Cash for Kids ‘Mission Christmas’ is all about keeping the Christmas dream alive for disadvantaged children in NI who, without the appeal, would wake up with nothing this Christmas. We are absolutely delighted to have the fantastic support of Asda again this year. The dedication that the stores have to making a difference at Christmas is a major contributor to the success of this campaign.”
