The fishing courses are part of the council’s programme of summer activities, and are being organised in partnership with the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA), Moyola Angling Club and the Irish Coarse Fishing Federation.

The first course is a special week-long angling school from Monday, July 25 to Friday, July 29 from 10am-2pm at Dungannon Park’s 12 acre lake. Suitable for children aged 11 and over, it will give participants an opportunity to try angling and gain some practical fly fishing experience, under the expert eye of qualified instructors.

The second fishing school teaches fly fishing at Bradley’s Lake, Tobermore from Monday, August 1 to Friday, August 5 from 10am-2pm. Running alongside this, on Wednesday 3 and Thursday, August 4, you can learn to coarse fish at Glenone Angling summer school from 10am-5pm.

Mid Ulster Council vice chair, Sharon McAleer, said: “Entertaining children, particularly older children, over the summer is no mean feat and these fishing courses are exactly the kind of more unusual activity which will appeal.”
