The scheme sees flowers left at a public place or landmark to be picked up by an unsuspecting passersby.

Barbara Megarry, area chairperson for the Northern Ireland Group of Flower Arrangement Societies (NIGFAS) said: “The lonely bouquet campaign was part of our national flower arranging day on May 1, which helps to promote our flower clubs and attract new members to join.

“Lonely bouquets were left by the various NIGFAS clubs in well known local places in their areas with a label attached asking whoever finds the bouquet to take it home and enjoy the flowers. There is a space on the label for each club to give contact details of who to contact to join their flower club.”
