Castledawson man drove through red light causing crash

A Castledawson man who drove through a red light at a junction in Cookstown before colliding with another vehicle has been fined at East Tyrone Magistrates Court.

John Dundon, 36, of Hillhead Road, was charged with driving without due care and attention following an incident on July 27 this year.

A court heard how police attended the scene of a RTC at the junction of Fountain Road, Cookstown were two vehicles, namely and Audi A7 and a Transit Van had collided.

There was extensive damage to both vehicles and witness statements taken at the scene said that the defendant who was driving the van, had driven through a red light and collided with the Audi who had a green light and right of way. The statement from the driver of the Audi also confirmed this.

During interview Mr Dundon denied the light was red. He was fined £315 and 4 points.
