The casualty was taken to the Causeway Hospital in Coleraine by ambulance following the incident which happened at lunch time.

Causeway Coast and Glens Independent Councillor Padraig McShane has praised the Ballycastle Coastguard along with the Ambulance Service.

Councillor McShane said: “The staff at the Carrick-a-Rede have committed themselves to safety first alongside an informative visitor experience. It is that commitment to safety that ensures accidents are kept to a minimum.

The area is however hazardous as with any of our natural costal attractions and I can’t emphasis enough the importance of individuals being responsible for personal safety. I wish this gentleman a full and speedy recovery.”
