Cat travels from Dublin for a purrfect service!

MERCEDES-Benz Truck & Van (NI) staff in Mallusk were shocked when a fragile white cat was discovered under the bonnet of a van that came in for a service at their depot recently.

On Tuesday, January 26, Paul Stevenson, a technician at the Mallusk Road workshop opened the bonnet to begin a service on a Sprinter camper van when - to his surprise - a small white cat climbed out. The cat had no obvious injuries, just very blackened paws.

How it survived under the bonnet is a mystery in itself, especially all the way from Dublin!

When the owner of the van was asked if the cat was his, he said had no idea the poor creature had been under his bonnet, and nor did he wish to keep it.

The animal spent the day in the workshop office being fed sausages and bacon and was taken home later by the Workshop Controller whose family are now caring for it.

The cat is now safe and well and answering to the name of Furball for now - as its name has been subject to frequent changes over the intervening weeks.

“A heartwarming story which proves Mercedes-Benz looks after both its customers - and their pets!” said a company spokesperson.
