Catherine’s weightloss success leads to own class

A LOCAL mum who has lost three stone has shed pounds and gained the confidence to take over her own Slimming World group in Maghaberry.

Catherine McClelland, who lost three stone in just over four months with Slimming World, is looking forward to becoming a consultant. Over the years Catherine attended other slimming groups, but found them too restrictive and struggled to lose or even maintain her weight. Slowly but surely her weight just kept creeping up. She resigned herself to the belief that she was ‘just destined to be overweight’. She became self-conscious and lost her self-belief. But after having her second son Archie on New Year’s Eve and with already having a two year old son, Reuben, Catherine knew she needed to lose weight once and for all. Not only to get her confidence back to but to have the energy to look after two active boys. Catherine knew a couple of family members who had lost a lot of weight through Slimming World, so she decided to stop putting it off any longer and give it a go. She joined in March, just days before her 30th Birthday and was amazed to lose 6.5lbs in her first week and 1 stone in the first 3 weeks. Catherine found the friendly help and encouragement, provided during the ‘image therapy’ element of the group, to be a key ingredient in helping her lose weight and stay focused. In the space of a few months Slimming World changed Catherine’s life. She lost over three stone and dropped two dress sizes. This motivated Catherine to train to become a Slimming World consultant so she could help, support and encourage others to lose weight just like her. She is extremely excited about taking over her local group in Maghaberry Community Centre, on Monday July 23. Catherine said: “Slimming World is like nothing I had ever tried before. It is easy to follow and most importantly it works. With ‘food optimising’ you literally eat yourself slim. “I love eating, especially eating-out and with Slimming World you can. I think it is too generous to be called a diet.

“I was the type of person who always put it off until tomorrow. But tomorrow never came. I was in a vicious circle of hating how I looked and comfort eating with the wrong foods to make myself feel better.” Catherine continued: “But now I have gained so much confidence from losing weight with Slimming World, that I want to help others achieve the same.”

Catherine’s Slimming World group takes place in Maghaberry Community Centre at 7pm on Monday evenings, starting on July 23.
