Caught without insurance

A 36-year-old man was fined £250 last Friday at Craigavon Magistrates Court for driving without insurance on April 16 this year.

Ian Semple, whose address was given as Edenderry Gardens, Banbridge, was also given six points and ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy.

The court heard that he was stopped while driving on the Banbridge Road in Lurgan and checks showed there was no insurance in place.

He was asked to produce his driving documents within seven days and he only produced his licence. There were already three points on his licence.

A solicitor representing Semple said he had acquired the vehicle from his father days earlier and had not checked the insurance.

He now had the matter regularised, added the solicitor.
