Caused damage to car and assaulted policeman

She was 18-year-old Shannon Reynolds, of Mount Zion, Edward Street, Lurgan, and she appeared last Thursday at Craigavon court.

At a previous court she had admitted unlawful damage to a car on June 30 and assaulting a police officer on July 1.

The case had been adjourned so that a pre-sentence report could be obtained.

The court heard that she pushed a trolley into the car and it was caught on CCTV.

When police tried to arrest her she kicked out and hit an officer.

A barrister for Reynolds said she had 13 convictions for assault and had been dealt with in every way possible in the youth court.

He added that she had not come to police notice for two years until this offence was committed. She seemed to have grown up slightly.

The lawyer said the estimate for the damage caused when she pushed the trolley at the car came to over 500.

District Judge, Mr Alan White, said it was a sad pre-sentence report and a sad background but she was an intelligent girl who should be pursuing qualifications to get a job which she was perfectly capable of holding down.

He imposed a combination order on the defendant of 12 months probation and 100 hours community service, also ordering her to pay 130 towards the damage to the car.

Mr White told her she needed to get a grip on herself and her alcohol consumption.
