Causeway boost

REV Dr Robert Coulter, the Ulster Unionist Party Assembly member for North Antrim and UUP Stormont Commissioner, has expressed his "tremendous delight" that the new Giant's Causeway visitors' centre is to go ahead "at long last".

Rev Dr Coulter has been a campaigner for quite some time to have a new visitors’ centre at the Causeway.

“I am just delighted that the Giant’s Causeway is to receive a long-awaited overhaul, which will only serve to enhance its world class reputation,” he said.

“It is a terrible shame that this development has been delayed for so long, when it is one of Northern Ireland’s premier tourist attractions. However, at long last we are to see progress made, and that is something to be welcomed.

“I also commend the National Trust on its plans to protect the three-kilometre stretch of coastline. The Causeway is a precious gift that we must protect – that has to be our priority.

“I look forward to the completion of this innovative, forward-thinking project, which will serve to educate as well as to preserve.”
