Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council’s COVID-19 Recovery Revitalisation Programme

Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council is pleased to announce that it has been allocated £449,000 for a COVID-19 Recovery Revitalisation Programme.

The financial package includes £340,000 from the Department for Communities for investment in urban settlements with a population of 5000 or more along with £109,000 from the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA) aimed at smaller settlements.

The funding will be distributed via a Small Grant Scheme, covering two levels of capital investment. Business owners can apply for up to £500 for PPE equipment, hand sanitisers, internal social distancing measures, Perspex screening, signage, contactless payment or app development for booking systems. Alongside this, grants of up to £1000 will be available for outdoor seating, heaters, front-of-house barriers, awnings or canopies where this would be appropriate. (Please note, additional permissions may be needed for any structural work to premises).

The Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council Alderman Mark Fielding said: “Confirmation of the Borough’s share of this funding is warmly welcomed as our businesses begin to re-open to a ‘new normal’ and the challenges this brings. Within our towns and villages in Causeway Coast and Glens we have a wealth of independent and indigenous businesses and this funding will greatly assist as they adapt to new methods of service for our local population and visitor market.

“I would like to re-iterate the importance of our ‘Shop, Eat, Enjoy Local’ message, and appeal to the public to support the Borough’s traders and help them to get back to business while continuing to adhere to public safety guidelines.”

Funding is very limited and will be assessed on a first-come-first-served basis. For more information about the Covid-19 Recovery Revitalisation Programme including how to apply for funding go to https://causeway.eformz.info/ from Monday, August 3, at 10am.
