Celebrate Global Wind Day at local farm

A local windfarm will lead the way in educating local primary school pupils about wind energy

On June 18, Gruig wind farm near Cloughmills will mark Global Wind Day by opening its doors to primary school pupils from around the county.

Pupils will be given a tour of the wind farm and will be shown how the farm works. The importance of wind energy and the contribution it makes to the economy will also be explained to them.

The tours are free but must be booked in advance. This event is hosted by RES in conjunction with Action Renewables.

Speaking on Global Wind Day and the events taking place around the country to mark it, CEO of the Irish Wind Energy Association, Kenneth Matthews said, “The objective of these events and activities to mark Global Wind Day is to raise awareness around wind energy and encourage people to have fun while learning about the potential of Ireland’s wind regime.”
