Celebrating ten years for Gaelscoil an Chaistil

GAELSCOIL an Chaistil, Ballycastle's Gaelic language primary school, held an event in Ballyvoy to mark its tenth anniversary.

The “Oche Mhr Lonnrach” or Big Sparkly Party saw parents, staff and friends of the school gather together in Hunters to celebrate in style!

“I’m just thrilled to be here among so many friends and glad to see everybody enjoying themselves!”, said school principal Brdn N Dhonnghaile.

“We’re running a few different events this year to celebrate our tenth anniversary, including this one which is a great chance for everyone to come out and have fun! We all work very hard at Gaelscoil an Chaistil and I’m so happy to have great teachers and a school community that’s active and keen to be involved in what we do.

“This event has been mostly organised and supported by parents – we’ve had a special cake made to mark the occasion, which was very kindly donated by Shauna McFall of Krafty Kakes, who is one of our parents. Special mention also has to go to Deirdre Goodlad and Cathy O Brien, who put in such a lot of time and effort to organise the event and decorate the tables. It’s typical of the dedication and enthusiasm that everybody brings to the school.

“We’ll be doing more over the course of the year to mark what is an important milestone for us. We’re looking forward to our next ten years and a new generation of Gaelic-speakers thriving in Ballycastle once more!”
