Celebrating World Friendship Day in Portballintrae

PEOPLE from all over the UK and Ireland will come together to celebrate World Friendship Day at Portballintrae Village Hall.

To mark the occasion, on Saturday, March 6, there will be a concert by the award-winning River City Chorus of Exeter with special guests, local singers Natasha Spence and Neil McKeown.

The River City Chorus is an Exeter based Barbershop group formed in 1992. They sing a wide variety of songs, ranging from the romantic to easy beat and up-tempo – spanning the decades from 1910 to the present day.

Neil and Natasha are locally based singers who both recently made it to the semi-finals of the U Factor, an Irish singing competition. Natasha, who is the daughter of the Irish Country singer Curtis Magee, is currently working on her first album.

On the night, she and Neil will be singing acoustic type songs from all genres.

Friendship Force International was launched at a White House ceremony on March 1st, 1977, with the endorsement and support of President Jimmy Carter.
