Celebration for ‘inspirational’Phyllis Michael

County Londonderry Committee and Portstewart Guide District hosted a surprise dinner for Phyllis Michael in Portstewart Golf Club to celebrate her fifty years dedicated service to guiding.

Phyllis remained as an active Guide Leader right up to a few years ago when she reluctantly decided to step down.

But in true guiding spirit she has never forgotten her guiding roots, always available to lend a hand.

Phyllis continues to be involved in the organisation through her membership of Portstewart Trefoil Guild of which, until recently, she was the Chairperson, as well as holding the prestigious position of Treasurer of the Ulster Trefoil Guild. As well as that Phyllis holds the positions of Ulster Archivist, Secretary of both Benone Campsite and Portstewart Friends of Guiding. She is also Residential Helper, always happy to help out at camps and sleepovers.

As a great baker, many of her delicious buns and cakes have been enjoyed in the on-site camps where she continues to meet many new friends.

The County Londonderry Committee and Portstewart Guide District wish Phyllis many more years of ‘happy guiding’ and thank her for her inspirational dedication and hard work for 50 years.
