CELTIC BULLETS POSTED HERE?

A weekend newspaper reported the letters originated in the Ballymoney area before they were intercepted at a postal sorting office in the Belfast region.

A police source told the Ballymoney Times: "The bullets were found at the Mallusk sorting office and an officer from Newtownabbey is investigating this. Forensics will be carried out on the packages for fingerprints and the like and the officer will also want to get to the bottom of where they were sent from and is looking into the claim in the newspaper report which mentioned Ballymoney. But at this moment we can neither confirm or deny if they were posted in Ballymoney."

Meanwhile, mainstream loyalist sources in the Ballymoney area said they had no information about th origin of the bullets but said it was not the sort of 'stunt' they would get involved in.

One theory is that the bullets in the post move followed Celtic's victory over Rangers in the Auld Firm Derby just days earlier. The bullets were addressed to Celtic's ground in Glasgow.

The PSNI confirmed they are investigating the bullet threat and a Royal Mail spokesperson confirmed police were called to their offices and removed two items of mail.

A Celtic spokesperson said: "It is a police matter".

The bullet threats made headline news across Britain and Ireland and further afield and was even covered by the American network CNN.

The bullets incident was condemned by politicians including First Minister, the DUP's Peter Robinson.
