Chaine FM gets ready to return to the airwaves

Larne will once again have a dedicated radio station this December, when Chaine FM returns to the local airwaves.

It was confirmed this week that the local radio station has again been granted a license to broadcast on 106.3FM from November 30 to Christmas Eve.

The station will once more broadcast a mix of music, competitions and community news, all dedicated to a Larne audience.

Station director, Gary Andrews, said; “We took a break last year to allow us to focus on our full-time community radio application and we realise that some of our listeners were disappointed by our absence. However, our one-year break has allowed us to give some fresh thought to what we do and we hope that listeners will enjoy the station this year.

“We have a fresh schedule which will bring some new voices to the station such as well-known local DJ and personality Mark Dobbin and also experienced commercial radio figures such as Noel Hyndman and Fat Tam. In addition, many familiar voices remain with the former afternoon crew of Gary Andrews and Steven Reid moving to breakfast and mid-mornings respectively.”

“At this stage we are particularly keen to hear from community groups wishing to get their news and events on-air, our station is about the community we serve and we look forward to including as many organisations as possible.”

The station is expecting to hear if the bid for a full-time licence has been successful towards the end of the year or early 2013.
