Speaking at the launch of the party manifesto Mr O’Dowd said it was over to the people to have their say.

Standing in the Assembly elections with colleague Nuala Toman, Mr O Dowd said: “What Sinn Féin wins in this election and in the negotiations that follow is a win for all.

“We go to the polls on March 2nd because Sinn Féin called time on the arrogance and contempt of the DUP, as a result of their mishandling of the RHI scandal and their disrespect for whole sections of our community.

“With allegations of financial corruption at the heart of government, no government could or should have survived. It is now over to the people to have their say.

“In this election Sinn Féin is standing up for equality, integrity, and respect. This also means dealing with the challenges of legacy.

Ms Toman said: “Sinn Féin are about achieving political institutions, which deliver for all our people on the basis of equality and respect.

“The best way to achieve that is by returning two Sinn Féin candidates in Upper Bann to join the the strongest possible Sinn Féin team.

“We have shown time and again that we will defend the interests of all citizens in Upper Bann and beyond.

“What we win in this election and in the negotiations that follow, we win for all the people of Upper Bann”
