A participant at a prior workshop stated: “I have gone from feeling isolated, unhelped and desperate to making a positive start on learning how to manage the rest of my life.”

Living with pain, affects thousands of people and the emotional toil of chronic pain can make the pain worse. Anxiety, stress, depression, anger and fatigue interact with pain and cause a vicious cycle.

Amanda Elliott, NACN SPDO said: “Historically, treatment options may have been limited to prescription medications with the addition of therapy, but the ideal treatment is a comprehensive approach that addresses a person’s physical, emotional and cognitive needs.”

The free talk and workshops are funded by the Public Health Agency (PHA), are being hosted by the North Antrim Community Network’s (NACN) Suicide Prevention Development Officer (SPDO) and facilitated by Arthritis Care Trainers who will share what they have learned about successfully managing pain in their own lives whilst training others to find their path to pain management and much needed support.

Although the talk and workshop are free, seating is limited and early booking is recommended.
