Chamber of Commerce committee elects new members

BALLYMENA Borough Chamber of Commerce and Industry held its Annual General Meeting in the Adair Arms Hotel last week with an excellent turnout of members.

Raymond Ruck, the outgoing President welcomed everyone. He said that it had been a great honour for him to have served two terms as President.

He mentioned several highlights of the last year, in particular the business awards and the lunch at which Republic of Ireland President Mary McAleese was the guest speaker.

The other Chamber Officers then gave their reports on projects, committees and events in which they had been involved during the year.

Sandy Wilson, Vice Chair of the Broughshane and District Community Association was invited to chair the election of officers.

Prior to the elections Sandy gave a very interesting and informative address on how Civic Pride can boost the local economy, using Broughshane as the perfect example.

Sandy also congratulated the Chamber on a very successful year.

The following officers were elected for 2012/13: President: Thomas McKillen; Vice President: Alan Stewart; Hon Secretary: Ronan McCann; Hon Treasurer: William McKean; Management Committee: Alison Moore, Bridgene McKeever, Paul Muir, Rodney Kernohan, Terry Robb, Robin Cherry, Martin North and Raymond Ruck.
