Chamber setting up business directory

BALLYCASTLE Chamber of Commerce is calling on all local businesses to get in touch to confirm details for their business listing on the Chamber's new website, which is currently under construction.

When the Chamber re-launched in 2009, a survey was carried out amongst its new members to establish what support local businesses needed.

Chamber officials said it was clear from the responses that local businesses of every type felt they would benefit from an online resource that members of the public could use to access their services.

Over the past few months the Chamber has been working hard developing a website that they hope to launch in the coming weeks. An important part of this website is a business directory.

Paul Cochrane, Chairperson of Ballycastle Chamber of Commerce, said: "It was obvious from the local business community that there was a need for an online local directory.

"So if someone from the area needs for the phone number for a tradesman or a local shop; or if a visitor to Moyle needs to contact one of our many B&B's or bars and restaurants, they will be able to access the info they need quickly and easily.

"There is such a diverse range of businesses in the local area we feel this is the great way to give them a platform to do more business with potential customers who are either on their doorstep or who are much further afield.

"Particularly with tourism being such an important industry locally, we feel this online directory will offer some businesses their first online presence. For many others it will be an additional channel that can only help to support their existing online offering.

"We are working hard to help support all local businesses and will be providing this online directory free to all our members. I would encourage anyone who is interested in getting listed in this directory to get in touch either directly with myself on 02820762294 or alternatively send an email to: [email protected]"
