This year Border Biscuits has joined forces with leading supermarket Asda, to launch a nationwide search for the best biscuit recipe in Britain and it’s also recruiting local baking bloggers to join the judging panel.

The Big Baking Bonanza, now in its third year, is open to amateur bakers and the winning recipe will be created by the skilled team at Border Biscuits and turned into a limited edition new product, which will go on sale in Asda. The winner will also get £2,000.

Budding bakers can enter the Big Baking Bonanza by submitting their recipe online at www.borderbiscuits.co.uk until 13th June 2015.

The local blogging judge will help whittle down the entries and join an expert panel including: the Border Biscuits baking team, last year’s winner Emma McBurney from Northern Ireland, Susanna Hassard, Asda Regional Buyer Scotland and Northern Ireland and colleagues from Asda House.

Emma McBurney, 2014 Big Baking Bonanza champion said: “I’m so excited to be selected for this year’s judging panel and to see the competition from the other side. I can’t wait to review and taste all of the innovative and creative recipes that we get through and I’m hoping to find a recipe that’s really different and stands out.”

Susanna Hassard, Asda Regional Buyer Scotland and Northern Ireland said: “We’re delighted to be involved with the Big Baking Bonanza again and including baking bloggers as judges is a great way to capture local knowledge and help select a recipe that our customers will love. We’re looking forward to receiving some creative entries and seeing the new recipe going on sale in our stores nationwide.”

Lesley Ann Gray brand and sales manager at Border Biscuits said: “There is a wealth of amateur baking talent out there in the UK and we’re excited to be working with local baking experts this year to help us select the best biscuit recipes. We’re looking for one outstanding recipe to join the Border Biscuits family to go on sale exclusively in Asda stores. We can’t wait to judge (and of course taste!) the final recipes. Good luck to everyone talking part.”
