Champion performance by Sea Cadets

TWO Sea Cadets from Lisburn delivered stunning results at the National Sea Cadet Regatta in London helping Northern Ireland towards a dominating and memorable victory over the other UK areas.

Luke Fitzhenry and Afton Fitzhenry returned to Lisburn as UK Sea Cadet Champions in their respective Canoeing categories.

Teamed with Gracious Philips from Ballymena, Luke paddled his way to gold in the Junior Mixed Doubles Sprint category and then narrowly missed out on gold in the Junior Boys Individual Sprint category.

Afton brought home silver after an exciting display in the Senior Girls two mile Marathon.

A short time later, Afton was storming home in the Senior Mixed Doubles Sprint Category with Adam Campbell from Bangor.

Not quite satisfied with gold and silver, Afton went on to collect another gold for her efforts in the Senior Girls Individual Sprint.

On a day that saw a steady stream of green shirts crossing finishing lines in podium positions, Northern Ireland took four out of five of the trophies on offer, only missing the fifth one by one point.
